Daisy . . . May 25, 2014!

It appears that AOL no longer allows me to post to my blog.  A FB friend said to try Chrome.  I did, and didn't really like it.  Now I've gone to IE

Doug's got his riding buddy!

She loves to get under him where he can't reach her and bite him!

Daisy has joined our family!

We drove from Gulf Shores, AL, to pick up Daisy in Austin, AR, on April 10.

Here she is in our motel room on our way back to Gulf Shores.  Notice the nice sleeping bag (it was Abby's) but Daisy had other ideas.  THIS photo is very indicative of her personality!!

Meyer Chili Supper!

October 5:  Another fun Meyer Family Chili Supper!
Before Kenny had to hurry off to his class reunion activities, I just had to get a photo of the seven of us, even though lots more family were also there!

These are just two of our dad's award-winning art pieces that he created while attending college in his 90's!!!

The Arch and The Frog have been designated as a "traveling exhibit" between us seven siblings.  Living in our RV, I didn't think I could do them justice, so I passed on my turn.  Actually, I could possibly show them to a lot of people.

Doug on the job!

October 3 (approx):

The grinder that Doug is using in Arkansas to clear 40 acres of trees for farming.

He said that the tires are as tall as he is (6'), but he couldn't stand by the grinder and take the photo too!

Time For Mexican!

October 1:  Our all-time favorite Mexican restaurant is still Los Pilares in Millington, TN.

WC tried the Potato Fajita and really liked it!  (More than he could eat!)

This, of course, is what I almost always order--Lunch Special #1.  This place has THE best Chile Relleno, and along with the taco, guacamole salad and beans @ 5.99 is not only a bargain, but a great lunch!!

Dogs enjoying the day outside.

A Unique Store to Look Around In

September 26:
Found this "Farmer's Market" in Memphis and had to check it out.

The live fish in the tanks were interesting and a different way to buy fish!

Live catfish lined up in the tank, ready to go home with you!

This sign caught our eye!  ("Please Do Not Play in the Beans")  Could tell you something about the clientele here.
"International" is included in the name, though in small letters.  While it has lots of fruits and veggies that we had never heard of, the majority of the store seems targeted to different ethnic foods and wares of the many nationalities who are now in Memphis.

Wildlife Sighting!

Taken w/my zoom lens September 24:
I was excited to see this doe and her fawns way back in Doug's back yard!

But Doug said he'd seen them lots of times.

Visit with good friends!

Had a great visit yesterday with our bestest friends, Janet & Ken!

Took some pics of Rene's cat, Meko . . . beautiful

I'm wondering if she is a Maine Coon.

My cousin says her Maine Coons look like this in the rear.

Bayleigh is 4 !!

She can't hardly wait for her party to begin!

She got to open our gifts early and she was happy about that!  We got unexpected, out-of-tow, company and I couldn't stay for the party.

Going Shopping for Bayleigh

Proud papa Doug!

She was a good shopper . . . only wanted almost everything!

So glad that she now LIKES to have her picture taken.

Bayleigh and mom, Chell.

Abby Lou

Abby at Memphis Veterinary Specialists waiting to be called back to see the dr. for our consultation visit on 9-17.

On the advice of the vet, she was scheduled for a biopsy of her hip.  He suspects a bone tumor.
She had the biopsy yesterday, 9-23, and now we are waiting to hear the results.

This was taken September 17th or 18th.  She looks so sad now.

Here (8-14) she was waiting for her cheese cubes that, unbeknownst to her, contain her pills--a pain pill and an antiinflammatory pill.

Back "Home" in Tennessee!

Restaurants Rebuilt

McElroy's

Cajun Crawfish Hut
These are just two of the restaurants that have been rebuilt since Katrina.

Alice's Cafe (9-3-13)

We found this cute little place and ate there twice.

It's a tiny, unfancy place featuring good food . . . operated by two sisters--one prepares the meals and the other the desserts.

They feature 2 or 3 specials each day . . . WC said the shrimp scampi was delicious!

My choice on this Friday was fried fish and it was excellent!

Then we were extra bad and had the desserts that come with!  They offer about 5 choices of desserts, all homemade!
