Sep 6, 2008 - Evacuation Begins

Heading north on U.S. 1 -- mandatory evacuation of RVers from the base and tourists from Key West in readiness for Hurricane Ike. Note the old highway on left with the occasional tree growing from it. Residents will begin evacuating tomorrow (Sunday). Before leaving, we took Sharon to the airport to get her flight to Ft. Myers, from which she will get her flight back to Memphis. At least she got her two weeks in before we had to leave. (P.S.--Sharon arrived home this evening about 6 p.m.)
