Historic Le Jeune Bakery

On March 7th we went to the town of Jeanerette to the historic, still-baking-delicious-bread bakery.  Their only two products, French bread and small ginger cakes, are famous and sold all over south Louisiana.  We loaded up on both bread and cakes to take home to family and friends.

They turn on the red light when the day's bread is ready for sale!

The baker told us these are the proofing ovens.

He repackaged each loaf in plastic so they would keep longer, then the paper wrapper.  The baking ovens are in the left rear.

I love the Live Oaks . . . saw these on the way to Jeanerette.
