Pic below, looking south, shows the new bridge/road on the left and the old one on the right. The old bridge was a drawbridge which frequently "got stuck," stranding people for hours!

This is looking north at Leeville . . . shows the detour back to old LA-1 on the left. This new 18 or 19-mile stretch of LA-1 is about 3/4 complete and now extends farther south but you still must detour off of it.
