Louisiana Nature!

Yesterday we drove out to see our friend Paul's hunting spot he is readying for the fall . . . I got some great nature shots!!  (Click to enlarge.)

This beautiful live oak tree is estimated to be 500 or more years old!  It's trunk is 22' 4" around at the smallest part.  A similar tree that is 1" smaller in diameter was studied by state botanists and determined to be 500 years old.

I even saw my first live armadillo!  He let me get pretty close before he ran away.  We also saw our first alligater of the season . . . probably 7-8' long, but he ducked under water before I could get his picture.
