On Sunday, Abby's "recently injured" leg/hip was bothering her so much she was just laying around and looking pitiful. A lot of the time she just laid on the floor.
We had NO IDEA that it would be as bad as it is.
We got her an appointment on Monday. They thought she might have a torn ACL, but wanted to take xrays to see her hips . . . had to bring her back Tuesday w/no eating.

Not a torn ACL, but worse! She has severe osteoarthritis in her left hip! The xray shows it . . . Do you see that there is NO "ball" to her hip joint on her left side? Vet said it was the worst she had ever seen. It looks to have been there awhile (see the muscle on her left is not near as big as on her right) and she must have aggravated it when she slipped and fell while chasing a ball about 3 weeks ago (when she hollered out). Don't know what we will do . . . more research is required, but will probably get her on Adequan Canine (Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan). We really liked the vet we went to here in GS . . . really caring and conscientious. There is a surgical option besides total hip replacement -Femoral Head and Neck Ostectomy (FHO) surgery-that we may consider. For now, she's on anti-inflammatory and a pain med for dogs and is walking a bit better.
