Music Festival! (10/10/09)

TOO MANY CHOICES!
On this particular 2nd weekend of October, there were THREE festivals to choose from in and around Abbeville:
Lousiana Cattle Festival & Fair - Abbeville
Festivals Acadiens et Creoles - Lafayette
World Championship Gumbo Cookoof & Food Festival - New Iberia
The entertainment lineups were extensive, but Betty and I chose to brave the rain sprinkles and mud in Lafayette to see the three great musicians whom the Festival was dedicated to:
Doug Kershaw, Jo-El Sonnier and Jimmy C. Newman.
All three started out playing Cajun music in their respective Louisiana hometowns--then were discovered and signed by major labels but they never stopped playing Cajun music.

Betty & I thought we'd died and gone to Heaven when we were able to scoot into the front row of their "Conversation With"!

Doug Kershaw

Three great Cajun musicians and we were on the front row to hear them talking, followed by handshaking and some hugs!

We're going to find some lunch!

Some of the crowd at the music stage featuring Doug Kershaw, Jimmy C. Newman, and Jo-El Sonnier.

Here's the link to the clip I recorded of Jo-El singing "Tear Stained Letter"
