Goodbye Gulf Shores!

Said farewell to Gulf Shores today and headed for Grand Isle, Louisiana.  Here are some pictures I took on the way (juggling camera and driving not recommended):

We always remembered our drive down LA-1 in the 1980's and how pretty it was . .  still so today .  .

 bridge over Intracoastal (Larose?)

This is the new bridge they are building . . . when complete it will be almost as long as the Pontchartrain Bridge in New Orleans, regarded as the world's longest bridge.  Part of it is complete now, but you are diverted back to old LA-1.  When this project is completed, much of the sinking LA-1 will be replaced.  (Come now if you want to experience the real LA-1 drive!)

More of the bridge . . . if you click to enlarge it you can see where the detour goes back to the right to old LA-1.

Arrival at Island House RV Park . . . more pics and details to follow!

Hey there, will swear that pink house is Captain Andy and Sue Galliano's. Looks like it sits right next to the park we stayed in. He has a red 4 door jeep, black top, and he always says for a smile, he will take you sailing. If you see him, tell him Jim and Cookie said hi.
