First, you have to realize that Grand Isle is definitely off the beaten path. We found that to be true when we came here on vacation in 1985. Here's a short bio: Grand Isle is a seven-square-mile barrier island connected to the rest of Louisiana by a narrow causeway. Located about 100 miles from New Orleans, the narrow island separates Barataria Bay from the Gulf of Mexico, and is the permanent home of 1,500 residents. Most of the year it appears to be a quaint and picturesque fishing village but in the summer its population swells to around 20,000. The visitors come mainly to fish because Grand Isle has some of the best fishing in the country.
Lucky for us, the RV park we/I chose turned out to be the best park, in our opinion, on the island--Island House RV.
We love this park--the owners are so friendly and accommodating . . . you can't go wrong!! It is our pick even if we had gone around to every park. The beach is close--just across the highway.
